St Patrick's Week
Well what an amazing week we had around St. Patrick's Day.  We were performing in many different locations, the main one being the St. Patrick's Festival Banquet at the Hyatt Hotel, it is always such a fantastic night and we feel privileged to perform for many dignataries from Ireland and New Zealand, especially the Prime Minister.

On the day itself we performed at O'Hagen's Irish Pub in the Viaduct from 12nonn right through to 9pm and it was absolutely wonderful and we had dancers from the age of 6years right through to 23years and each one of them gave 100% to a very appreciative audience.  We were fortunate to have dancing with us Des Bailey from Lord of the Dance who was magic to watch.

Our school has now re-opened its solo section which is quite exciting, and it is great to see some of our older dancers returning to the solos.

That's it for now

Christmas and 2008
Hi All,
Well we had an absolutely wonderful Christmas with all our family back from overseas.  The traditional 'Ciaran' party was held for the five most wonderful ladies of the Irish Club - Kath Doran, Maggie Doran, Nell Delaney, Eileen Prendiville and Rose Coll and wow what a great night.

Anyway the Connolly dancers have been performing over the Christmas period and one of the highlights was an Irish/Indian wedding which went down like a treat.

With St. Patrick's week coming up, not too far away, we are now starting our practices of the amazing exhibitions that Ciaran has choreographed for the many bookings we have.  If anyone is looking for dancers for that time it is wise to get in early as we get so booked up over that time.

So until next time, regards Clare

The Nationals and the Feis
Well it has been an extremely busy time getting ready for the N.Z. Nationals which were held in Wellington in September.  Our teams weren't quite ready so results were not as great as we would have liked even though most of our teams were placed but no winners this year.  However, our National Feisianna has just been held in Aukland on Labour Weekend and we were very very successful with our teams taking the trophies for all the over 13 teams in N.Z., as we were just that much more prepared.  "Practice makes Perfect" eh!

It was great to see our dancers on Outrageous Fortune on Tuesday night that was the result of a lot of practice and teaching.

We are now involved in the welcoming of our Irish President, Mrs Mary McAleese who is arriving in the Hilton Hotel on Fri 2nd Nov.  This is a great honour to be a part of this prestigious visit.

We have many exhibitions coming up over the next few weeks leading up to Christmas, including a wedding and some charity fundraisers.

Until the next time, cheers, Clare
